Best Musical Comedy Duo Websites – YouTube Channels Included!

Sometimes we all need a laugh.  Sometimes we all need a laugh and to dance, sing, or sway to music.  Don’t we?  No?  That’s just me?  Nah, come on.  You love singing comedy duos as much as I do.  Here are some of the favorites.  When possible, I’ve included a link to their YouTube Channel so that you can further bask in their awesomeness, while I don’t get in trouble for the songs with bad words in them.  Yay!

Powerfox and Ponymane

powerfox and ponymane

This duo, made up of Jackie Tohn and Jes Hudak, spoofs on American Idol a whole lot, but they are so talented that it’s hard to tell that they are spoofing.  They like to do mash-ups of recently performed songs on AI, and their harmonies are amazing.  Jackie Tohn made it to the Top 36 in the 8th Season of American Idol, but has been acting and performing since she was a little girl.  She has been part of Powerfox and Ponymae since her American Idol elimination.

Flight of the Conchords

These guys.  What do you say about these guys?  They are from New Zealand, and they had a show on HBO that ran for two seasons.  Their names are Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement, and they are talented, hilarious, and quirky.  Seriously.  They win awards and stuff.  Plus, they guest starred on The Simpsons, so you know they’re good.

Garfunkel & Oates

You may recognize Kate Micucci from the new show Raising Hope.  You may recognize Riki Lindhome from the remake of The Last House on the Left.  Together they are Garfunkel & Oates, and they perform all over Los Angeles with songs like “Sex With Ducks,” “Pregnant Women are Smug” (seen above), and “Year End Letter.”  Their new album is called “All Over Your Face.”  The pair met at the Upright Citizens Brigade theatre in LA, and have been turning out pure gold ever since.

Tenacious D

How could a list like this exist without the presence of the ever-powerful D?  Superstars Jack Black and Kyle Gass have released two albums as Tenacious D, one in 2001 and one in 2006, as a companion album to their feature film Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny.  Black and Gass met way back in 1989 and because of Jack Black’s relationship with David Cross the duo appeared just after Mr. Show on HBO.  Foo Fighters mastermind Dave Grohl enjoyed the duo, and that led to their appearance in the video for “Learn to Fly.”  Grohl went on to play drums for the band’s albums, and appear in their film as the devil.
