The rumor is that the customer service reps might take a moment to get you where you need to go (meaning that online trade-savvy folks aren’t manning the phones – a no-no in this industry) but that might have just been a handful of experiences.

eTrade Financial is a very widely used service, so their website is smooth and user-friendly, and since they are one of the biggest services out there, they have a robust array of offerings. While not ideally suited for beginners (they sort of assume that you know at least a little bit about online trading) the site is equipped with free education in the form of articles, webinars, and a good FAQ section. Customer support is good, but you barely need it with all the free education offered.

If you’ve got $2000 to start up with and you’re a total beginner, this the perfect site for you. If you don’t fall into that category, but you are still a total beginner, there are things you can do on this site without buying the total trading package, but you have to ask yourself if that’s what you really want. Luckily the website is easy to navigate and very straightforward, so you can check it out for yourself.
