Outward Bound
The adventure and challenge of learning expeditions
Outward Bound serves 70,000 students and teachers each year. Through programs that use unfamiliar settings students learn through adventure and challenge and learn that they can do more than they have ever imagined. Founded in 1941 to help young sailors survived the dangerous waters of the North Seah, Outward Bound now provides courses for students that are five days. In addition to wilderness expeditions, Outward Bound offers At-Risk Youth Expeditions that provide a structured environment for positive development in troubled teens.

Formed in 1985, Chicago-based Center for Cultural Exchange seeks to promote cultural understanding, academic development, environmental consciousness and world peace. AFS Intercultural Programs
Intercultural learning in more than 50 countries
After World War II ended, volunteer ambulance drivers founded AFS as a non-profit international exchange program for students. AFS offers short term programs that last a few weeks or the opportunity to live with another culture for a full year. Families can also host students here in the United States.
